Michael Perman

Lake Oswego is a great place for wine tasting, especially on the Third Thursday of every month. On February 20, from 3:00 - 6:00 PM, Sommelier Michael Perman will be sharing wines that make you cozy at City Home as part of the Third Thursday walking celebration.

“City home offers cozy furniture and I want to complement that with cozy wines”, says Michael, Sommelier with C’EST WHAT? Wine and Sensory in Lake Oswego.

Michael and City Home will feature the following cozy wines:

2018 Montefalco Sagrantino, a full-body red wine from Umbria with rich notes of plum, cassis, and Italian herbs. Fermented for four weeks in French oak vats, then aged in French oak barrels for at least 18 months. Complex, elegant, intense fruit, with notes of red berries, red citrus, ripe plums, spices, and hints of herbs and leather from a winery that dates back to 1884, founded by the Prince of Piombino Ugo Boncompagni Ludovisi.

Abbazia di Novacella Kerner, a white wine from Northern Italy made in a monastery for the past 800 years, with notes of tropical fruits, tarragon, tangerine, and creamy peaches. The Abbazia Abbey has transcended lots of other twists and turns including in 1525 when outraged peasants under the leadership of Michael Gaismair attacked the abbey. While they primarily destroyed rent rolls and certificates of debt, they also plundered the canons’ halls and the cellar, leaving a wake of devastation at Neustift, but the winemaking operation survived.

Mas de Libian Bout d’Zan, an elegant white wine from Cotes-du-Rhone made from Syrah and Grenache, shows notes of fresh blackberries, licorice, clove, and cinnamon. This is a red wine that can be set aside and aged for many years, but you can also (very easily) drink it now. It’s good-humored and enjoys good company; it will be joyful as an aperitif at a picnic, will be happy with a last-minute meal with friends, yet will not lose its personality or presence if invited to dine with discerning guests. Pairs wells with Moroccan meat stew with grilled lamb and vegetables and traditional Mediterranean flavors

In 2016, Mas di Libian was featured in: Weed & Wine: a film about love and transmission, an unexpected adventure, linking France and the United States, wine and weed, love and transmission.  “Rebecca Richman Cohen, the project’s instigator and producer, knocked on our door. She was looking for a biodynamic estate run by an open-minded family in transition… That’s us!” Rebecca and her cameras landed at Mas de Libian in the summer of 2016 with a specific idea: a cinematic love letter to two plants, one honored and protected by the state, the other outlawed by the federal government.

What also fascinated Rebecca was the duality and complementarity of two types of love: for the land and for the family. It’s this blend of effort, sweat, and love, both in the vineyard and between the generations, that this documentary tenderly captures.

Hope to see you for wine tasting at City Home in Lake Oswego, on February 20, 3:00 - 6:00.
